Name: Nadine

Age: 19

Sex: I’m a girl…

Location: (really) sunny Singapore

1. When did u start your blog?

If you say started blogging, it was back in 1999/2000. However, there
weren’t any reliable free blogs at that time (or I didn’t manage to scout
for one) so I lost most of my archives of the old days. This blog is my
third blog that’s hosted and I just moved over a few weeks ago.

2. Did anyone inspire you to Start a blog?

Not really. At that time, blogging was really rare. I’ve been keeping
journals since I was young so blogging just came to me naturally.

3. What powers your Blog? (blogger/wordpress..etc..)

WordPress 1.5.1! I highly recommend everyone to use it!

4. Name 3 blogs that inspire/captivate/captures yr attention.

Alex - alexthegirl

Dene - Unfortunately, she doesn’t like her URL to be advertised (sorry).

Very sadly, I can only find 2 blogs.

5. Your Fav Music

Oh, this is hard. It ranges on what I want to hear. Hip hop, punk, some pop,
alternative… I like dance and techno too (much despised, sadly). As a
(really amateur) songwriter, my music has more of a Lene Marlin sound
influenced by Jewel. I’m a big fan of them.

6. Do You Blog regularly?

Most of the time, yes. The only time I go on a week-long hiatus is usually
when I’m away at camp and there’s no internet connections. Or at times, when
I lack the inspiration to blog. It happens sometimes.

7. How many friends of yours Blog too?

Online or offline? Most of my online friends blog because that’s how I met
them! Not all my offline friends blogs. Most of them are girls but I don’t
really like their style of blogging. It’s too messy, boring, and most of the
time, hard to read. Majority of my guy friends are too lazy to blog.

8. Did you design your own Blog?

Yes! It’s my first theme for WordPress that I can proudly go “Copyright to
Nadine Su. All rights reserved.” instead of “Some rights reserved.” Most of
my past designs usually contain an image that doesn’t belong to me. So from
now on, my brain must be constantly working to create designs that are
totally mine. Then again, maybe I should work on my photography skills.

9. What do you think makes your blog interesting?

I’ve been told by a few of my readers that it’s the way I blog - my style of
writing. There are times when I blog my entries in a narrative-story format
that tells people a story instead of a real-life account.

10. Your advice for people just beginning to start a blog…..

Think of who you want to target and who you’re blogging for: yourself, or
for others to read? Content is rather important since that’s what people
come to your site for. A design that is pleasing wouldn’t hurt. I’m sure
you’d like something that is readable and not screaming pink and neon green
at the same time.

11. 5 years from now..do u think u will still be blogging?

Definitely! I’ve been blogging 5 years ago! 5 more years wouldn’t hurt. I’d
like my blog to be a place where it really impacts people. I’d like some
readers to come back and tell me, “Hey, whatever you wrote back then, it
touched and changed me.” Okay, not a dramatic change but a small one is
enough to make me feel pleased.

12. The future of Blogs…..where would it lead to? in your opinion.

I’m not too sure. Blogging now has become more like a trend, an ‘in’ thing
that people blog to be part of this blogging crowd. I’ve known some people
who start a blog but end up not updating it a few weeks later, or blog just
once a month or even less. I’ve also seen others who portray themselves
vulgarly online just to attract attention. It saddens me to think that this
is how the blogging scene has become.

13. your motto in life

Expect the worst and you’ll never be disappointed.
(I’m sorry I can be such a pessimist at times.)

14. If you were not blogging you would……..

… be venting my utmost frustrations on a poor pillow.

15. Google…what do You think about Google?

I’d love to be able to work there for the rest of my life. Are they hiring?

16. What do You think Makes your Blog Special?

Being a Singaporean, most Singaporeans would blog in Singlish -
Singapore-English - in which it is rather hard for my Caucasian friends to
understand. I blog in (not-so-perfect, but almost there) English but with
Singapore style. Then again, that’s what I think. Not too sure about my
readers though…

17. what is your blog mainly about?

Nothing focused. Bits and pieces of my life, some childhood memories and
histories, about myself, some of my really odd thoughts, pictures of my
fun-filled life… It also showcases some of my poetry. I like writing.

18. Decribe your blog in less than 500 words…

The thoughts, stories and poetry of a 19-year-old going on 20 but still
feels (and looks) like a 14-year-old. A place that hopes to touch people.

*A big thank you to Nadine for taking some time to answer this questions..much appreciated..:)
