The Million Dollar Copycat
September 26, 2005
About anybody on the net right now would have crossed paths with Alex Tew’s ever
increasing in popularity site, The Million Dollar Homepage.
Well in case your living in a cave, here’s a summary of what his site is all about:
His idea:
“to try and make $1m (US) by selling 1,000,000 pixels for $1 eachâ€
yup..that’s all his site is about..buy pixels and place your image/logo on it.
kind of like a big bulletin board/billboard.
His Motivation:
“to pay for his degree studies, because he does not like the idea of graduating with a huge student debtâ€
and of course, his idea was one of a kind-unique.
Thus spawning a bunch of copycat sites, aiming to cash in on this “ride”
here’s a list of of some of the copycats:
Zero Dollar Homepage < < FREE!!!!
Half a Buck Pixels < < still empty
*edit*
yet another one (was e-mailed to me by the owner)

Got something to say?

[...] I received this mails because of a small list i started HERE [...]
this is Marco Martinoli, manager of the Italian web site http://www.homepageda10milionidieuro.it.
First of all I have increased the grid up to 10.000.000 pixels then I have changed the “Advertisers†section: I won’t publish the purchased pixels but I will introduce the category/sector the advertisers belong to.
“Italian press” thought that the idea of increasing the number of pixels was interesting so they published it and presented this project as the Italian challenge Vs. alex tew, milliondollahomepage.
Thanks, bye.
