What Just Happened? - Trailer

  What Just Happened? - Trailer
What Just Happened? is a winningly sharp comedy about two nail-biting, back-stabbing, roller-coaster weeks in the world of a middle-aged Hollywood producer — as he tries to juggle an actual life with an outrageous series of crises in his day job. Academy Award® winning director Barry Levinson reunites with Academy Award winning actor Robert De Niro and leading producer Art Linson, who wrote the screenplay based on his bestselling memoir. They all join with an all-star cast in this rollicking, shrewd tale of a man besieged by people who want him all to be sorts of things — a money maker, an ego buster, a bad news breaker, an artistic champion, a loyal husband, an all-knowing father, not to mention sexy, youthful and tuned-in – everything except for the one thing he and all the preposterously behaved people he’s surrounded by really are: bumbling human beings just trying to survive by any means necessary.
Directed by: Barry Levinson
Starring: Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Catherine Keener, John Turturro, Robin Wright Penn

Cruise partner steps down

August 14, 2008

Paula Wagner, Tom Cruise’s long-time producing partner, has decided to step down from her role as CEO and co-owner of United Artists effectively ending her long-time partnership with Cruise.

A lot of speculation has floated in the industry regarding her departure but the strongest seems to be her alleged mismanagement of two movies from Cruise that have attracted a lot of negative buzz. The first was Lions for Lambs, which was a big flop, and the second one is Valkyrie, the troubled Bryan Singer-directed production that has met with a lot of difficulties and delays. Surprisingly, Wagner’s decision came a couple of weeks after her husband, a long-time agent of Cruise’s, also resigned from CAA to join Morgan Creek.

Cruise’s little empire is showing some cracks right now. He should reassess his domain and repolish his tarnished career.

Listen To “Alright Hold Tight” By Doug Mattingly

August 13, 2008

I’ve got Media Press Kit for a week from “Doug Mattingly” for the new album “Love and Logic“, but just have time to review today.

Doug Mattingly is a completely independent artist and already has 3 albums releases on the market. More about him at http://www.dougmattingly.net/

First of all, I would say I am impressed from the level of his ability. Alright Hold Tight is the right track to be a first single and music video. The four tracks from the begining of his CD couldn’t make me excited, but the fifth track does (which is “Alright Hold Tight”)

Another song that I like is “I Want You To Know“. I wanna push this one. The next song I will add will be this song. Good lyrics and good music arraignment. I wanna say he could do it better too. Some tracks need to add more interesting sound and vocal.

With his look and his music, I think his album cover should not so focus on his face (that would be an album for pop idol who sell their pretty voice).

Music clip doesn’t play smoothly?

His future with a major label seems to come true one day. Keep going, Doug!!

Alright Hold Tight
Artist: Doug Mattingly
Album: Love and Logic

It’s a bullet train jumping off of the track.
It’s a boomerang that’s on the way back.
It’s a millionaire just tryin’ to score.
Yeah, the millionaire, he’s grabbin’ for more.
And more.

Look out.
Don’t get your mind worked up.

Alright, hold tight.
We’re spinning ‘round like a satellite.
Alright, hold tight.
‘Cause it’s real, real life.
And down here you see.
Yeah, you see.

It’s that thing you say when you know that you’re wrong.
It’s that life you lead when you just go along.
Come on.

You know it.
Just get your mind made up.

Alright, hold tight.
We’re spinning ‘round like a satellite.
Alright, hold tight.
‘Cause it’s real, real life.
And down here you see.

Yeah, here we are again.
Here we are.
Well, the world may never know your face,
But you find your place.
You find your place.
Yeah, you’ve got your place.

Yeah, you got it.

Come on.

Alright, hold tight.
We’re spinning ‘round like a satellite.
Alright, hold tight.
‘Cause it’s real, real life.
Yeah, come on.

Alright, hold tight.
We’re spinning ‘round like a satellite.
Alright, hold tight.
‘Cause it’s real, real life.
And down here you’re free.

Yeah, you’ll see.

All right.

Trouble the Water - Trailer

August 8, 2008

  Trouble the Water - Trailer
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, this astonishingly powerful documentary is at once horrifying and exhilarating. Directed and produced by Fahrenheit 9/11and Bowling for Columbine producers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal, Trouble the Watertakes you inside Hurricane Katrina in a way never before seen on screen. The film opens the day before the storm makes landfall—just blocks away from the French Quarter but far from the New Orleans that most tourists knew. Kimberly Rivers Roberts, an aspiring rap artist, is turning her new video camera on herself and her 9th Ward neighbors trapped in the city. “It’s going to be a day to remember,” Kim declares. As the hurricane begins to rage and the floodwaters fill their world and the screen, Kim and her husband Scott continue to film their harrowing retreat to higher ground and the dramatic rescues of friends and neighbors. The filmmakers document the couple’s return to New Orleans, the devastation of their neighborhood and the appalling repeated failures of government. Weaving an insider’s view of Katrina with a mix of verité and in- your-face filmmaking, Trouble the Wateris a redemptive tale of self-described street hustlers who become heroes—two unforgettable people who survive the storm and then seize a chance for a new beginning.
Directed by: Tia Lessin, Carl Deal
Starring: Kimberly Roberts, Scott Roberts
